Nearly 200 Ghanaian students stranded in US – Here is the reason
A large number of Ghanaian students at the University of Memphis may be forced to return home due to unpaid tuition fees.

University President Bill Hardgrave addressed the issue during an appearance on Action News 5’s Better Memphis show on Wednesday. He explained that the students, who are sponsored by the Ghanaian government, have not had their tuition paid.
According to the Daily Memphian, the students have until August 9 to resolve the payment issue or face removal from the university and possible deportation.
“I think there was a regime change in Ghana and that affected the budget, but we’re hopeful that gets corrected because we love to keep those students on campus,” Hardgrave said.
Reports indicate that the Ghanaian government owes the university approximately $3.6 million.
Those interested in supporting the affected students can donate to the Gary Shorb International Student Support Fund.
