Next Flagbearer: NPP decides today
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is today, Saturday, January 31, holding its presidential primary to elect a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

Delegates across the country are voting in what is seen as one of the party’s most important internal elections since its loss in the 2024 general election.
Five aspirants are contesting the position. About 211,000 delegates are expected to take part in the exercise, voting at more than 300 polling centres nationwide.
The outcome of the primary is being keenly followed by party supporters and political observers, as it will determine the party’s presidential candidate for 2028 and also indicate the level of unity and support within the NPP going forward.
The contest follows months of intense campaigning, policy discussions, and nationwide tours by the aspirants, which have increased interest in today’s vote.
