Nitiwul to petition ORAL Team to investigate “State Capture” from 2009 to 2016

Former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul has hinted at writing to the Committee Chairman for Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) to investigate how some state lands were captured before 2017.
According to him, the ORAL team cannot be investigating what they describe as “state capture” from 2017 to 2024 when there are state capture issues from 2009 to 2016.
He cites lands in part of the Greater Accra Region, which was captured by government appointees, among others, from 2009 to 2016, that need to be investigated.
To him, accountability is enshrined in the constitution of Ghana and should not be a problem in any way.
“I will be writing officially to you to go to Tamale and assess…I have all the state lands that were obtained between 2010 and 2016. I will provide the chairman…Mr Speaker, I am surprised that accountability, which is in our constitution, has become a problem here,” he said on the floor of Parliament on February 4, 2025.
“I am saying to the ORAL Chairman that when your committee is properly constituted, beware that some of us…I was a minister for eight years, but I don’t have a single government property, I never stayed in a government house, I never did anything illegal, and I’m saying that I will be writing officially to you when your committee is properly constituted,” he said.
