No one will tell you Dr. Bawumia is solely loved by the rank and file of NPP – Dr. Frank Aduhene,

Political Analyst Dr. Frank Aduhene has advised former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to be cautious in selecting a running mate if he is elected again as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer on January 31, 2026.

Dr. Aduhene believes Bawumia is poised to secure the party’s nomination once more, pointing to scenes at the recent National Delegates Conference at the University of Ghana as a clear indication of strong grassroots support.

Speaking on the conference’s outcome, he remarked, “If you consider the scene and reactions yesterday at the Legon Stadium, no one will tell you Dr. Bawumia is solely loved by the rank and file of the party and is set to receive the nod again.”

However, he warned that this goodwill could be jeopardized if Bawumia makes a poor choice of running mate, particularly if he repeats what he described as the misstep of selecting Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh in 2024.

“I am sure Dr. Bawumia himself will make good use of the various survey reports before him. The report indicated that his major problem was the one to partner with him. He must therefore resolve to make a better choice if he wants the party and the general voter population to take him seriously this time,” Dr. Aduhene said.

He also urged the former Vice President to ignore pressure from selfish lobbyists pushing for the retention of certain individuals within his circle, warning that such interests could harm his chances.
