Noise during lovemaking is a serious crime – Lawyer Maurice Ampaw
Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has issued a strong warning to couples who make loud noises during lovemaking, stating that such behaviour is an offence that could land them in trouble with the law.

Speaking in an interview on United Showbiz, the private legal practitioner explained that while expressions of pleasure during lovemaking are natural, excessive noise—such as loud screaming—constitutes a public nuisance that disrupts the peace of others.
He clarified that it is acceptable for couples to express themselves in soft moans during intimate moments but urged that they do so in moderation and within the confines of respect for neighbours.
“We don’t make love and shout,” he said. “You don’t scream. Nuisance is noise-making, and everyone has the right to enjoy peace in their environment.”
Maurice Ampaw added that making loud noises during lovemaking can even be considered a human rights violation against individuals who are involuntarily subjected to such sounds, especially in close living quarters.
In addition to this warning, he cautioned parents against going naked or bathing in front of their children, referencing the past legal case of Akuapem Poloo.
According to him, what led to Akuapem Poloo’s arrest and imprisonment—sharing a nude photo with her son—is similar to what many parents unknowingly do at home, which can be morally questionable and legally risky.
“What Akuapem Poloo did, many parents are guilty of,” he said. “Every father who bathes with his daughter—let’s say the daughter is 10 or 11 years old—is putting himself in a risky situation. My wife is dead and my daughter is 12 years old. If I enter the bathroom while she’s there and I also bathe at the same time, even if that’s not considered public, morally, it’s obscene.”
He concluded, “If I take a video of that and publish it, then I would be guilty under the law. But even without publishing, morally, exposing an adult male’s private parts to a 12-year-old girl is not right.”
