Not long ago, political thugs came to my house to attack me – Dr Domfeh fears for his life

Economist and Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr. George Domfeh, has disclosed receiving a threatening message from a Member of Parliament belonging to the governing NDC.

Dr. Domfeh, who has been critical of the government’s policies, revealed in a Christmas post on his Facebook wall that his commentary on national issues has drawn hostility, including character attacks and threats from some NDC members.

Merry Christmas to all, including those who express hostility toward me or disseminate untruths about my person. I pray that God’s grace may guide such individuals toward ethical conduct, civility, and freedom from hatred and rancour, he wrote.

Although he did not name the MP, Dr. Domfeh indicated that the legislator is from the Oti Region, a stronghold where all MPs belong to the NDC.

He shared that a former student of his, now an MP, sent him a chilling message:

“YOU would have disappeared if it were other democracies.”

Dr. Domfeh described the MP’s characterization of him as excessively outspoken and vocal, raising concerns about tolerance for dissent in Ghana’s democracy.

He also recounted a previous incident where political thugs allegedly came to his home to attack him due to his commentary on the economy.
