NPP MP Michael Okyere Baafi breaks down in tears
The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Constituency and former Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi, broke down in tears after receiving the shocking news of the sudden death of the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Hon. Ernest Yaw Kumi.

Hon. Baafi, who was preparing to leave Koforidua for Accra on official duties, received a phone call from an anonymous source and immediately burst into uncontrollable tears upon hearing the tragic news.
Describing the news as a “big blow and a great shock” not only to himself but also to the bereaved family, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and fellow Members of Parliament, Hon. Baafi expressed deep sorrow over the loss.
He described the late Hon. Ernest Yaw Kumi as “a young, vibrant, energetic, affable, and highly promising lawmaker.”
In a heartfelt lament, Hon. Baafi said, “What is heartbreaking is that, after all his struggles, the legal battles, and finally being cleared to serve his people, death laid its icy hands on him. It’s painful and deeply unfair.”
