NPP Primaries: Ken Agyapong run pass Bawumia with 52% in latest poll
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has taken a clear lead in the New Patriotic Party presidential contest, according to the latest Phase Three voter intention survey released by Sanity Africa ahead of the party’s primaries on January 31, 2026.

The survey places the former Assin Central Member of Parliament at 52.0 per cent support among delegates, with former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia following behind at 40.0 per cent.
The poll was conducted between October 2025 and January 2026 and was based on a weighted sample of 15,000 delegates drawn from all 276 constituencies. It reflects voting intentions within the expanded delegate album of about 211,000 voters, which includes former appointees and past party executives. Sanity Africa states that the results have a 99 per cent confidence level with a margin of error of plus or minus 5 per cent.
The remaining aspirants recorded much lower support. Dr Bryan Acheampong polled 7.0 per cent, Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum obtained 0.7 per cent, while Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong received 0.3 per cent. Compared with the Phase Two poll released in October, Agyapong experienced a slight decline of 1.1 percentage points, Bawumia increased by 1.0 point, and Acheampong recorded the biggest gain with a 2.0-point rise.
Sanity Africa described the race as “fluid,” noting that delegate preferences could still change in the final weeks due to campaign messages, endorsements and regional mobilisation. Although the findings place Ken Agyapong as the frontrunner, the organisation cautioned that late momentum from other contenders could narrow the gap.
