NPP Primary: Tomorrow is not a day for macho men so if you come and you misbehave – Police warns

The Ghana Police Service has issued a firm warning to individuals described as “macho men” ahead of the New Patriotic Party presidential primary.

The police cautioned that any acts of violence or misconduct at polling centres will be dealt with decisively.

Speaking on security preparations on Friday, January 30, 2026, a police official stressed that the primary is not about intimidation or physical strength but a democratic process that requires peace and order.

He assured the public that adequate security measures have been put in place to protect voters, officials, and electoral materials.

“They have huge shoulders, so they call themselves macho men. The election is not between macho people; it’s between five contestants. Whether one of them is macho or not, I can’t speak to that.

“So, our duty is simple, we go and make sure that people who are coming to vote are protected, media is protected, police are protected, electoral officers are protected, electoral material is protected, everybody comes around and go home freely,” he said.

The police also warned against loitering around polling centres under the guise of monitoring the process, noting that such behaviour will not be tolerated if it disrupts the exercise.

“If you want to stay and observe, you can stand at a distance. If you are a macho man, go to the gym and go and lift weights. The election is not for macho people… Tomorrow is not a day for macho men so if you come and you misbehave; you’ll be arrested and now the IGP has reiterated that when one of you is arrested, don’t call him,” they warned.

The Police Service further appealed to supporters of the various contestants to conduct themselves within the law and avoid engaging in criminal acts in the name of political loyalty.

“…Those who are going for the polls, they are not fighting. The one who is down there, you want to go and kill for, they don’t know you so when you are incarcerated, they will not come. In fact, they don’t know you exist. So avoid engaging in any criminalities,” the police added…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
