NPP Primary: Updates from Ashanti Region

Voting for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate has started in the Ashanti Region, with delegates going to polling centres to cast their ballots.

Reports from correspondents across the region indicate a large turnout, with about 250 delegates already present at the Kwadaso Constituency polling centre by 7:00 a.m.

The Ashanti Region, a stronghold of the NPP, is expected to play a key role in determining the election outcome, with 36,626 delegates set to vote, representing 17.29 per cent of the total electorate.

Delegates in the region will choose among five candidates: Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr Bryan Acheampong, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.

The election is being conducted under tight security, with the Ghana Police Service deploying personnel to all polling centres.
