NPP race: Kwabena Agyapong concedes defeat, congratulates Bawumia
New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kwabena Agyei Agyapong has conceded defeat in the party’s ongoing presidential primaries after early indications showed former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia leading the race.

Preliminary results from several constituencies place Dr Bawumia ahead of the other contenders as ballot counting continues across polling centres nationwide.
In a video obtained by JoyNews, Mr Agyapong is seen making a congratulatory phone call to Dr Bawumia and acknowledging his apparent victory.
“Mahamudu, congratulations. I have seen that you have done it,” he said.
Describing the contest as difficult, Mr Agyapong emphasised the need for unity and acceptance after the primaries, saying the party’s collective strength must come first.
“It’s a tough battle, but it’s very important to hold the party together and make sure everything is fine,” he added.
Mr Agyapong also pledged his continued support for Dr Bawumia and assured him of his readiness to assist when needed.
“As usual, you know I’m always available. We will meet at the party’s headquarters,” he said.
