NPP supporters in Akwatia chooses candidate ahead of by-election
A growing number of New Patriotic Party (NPP) members and supporters in the Akwatia Constituency of the Eastern Region are urging the party’s leadership to re-nominate former Member of Parliament, Madam Mercy Adu Gyamfi, popularly known as “Ama Sey,” as the party’s candidate for the upcoming by-election.

Speaking to the media in Akwatia, Mr. Fredrick Kwame Gyekye, campaign coordinator for Ama Sey, acknowledged the strong support from grassroots members and sympathisers calling for her return as parliamentary candidate.
“Ama Sey remains the most popular and influential figure in Akwatia today. She is the only candidate capable of securing a decisive victory for the NPP in the upcoming by-election,” Mr. Gyekye asserted.
He highlighted Ama Sey’s tenure as MP, during which she led several development initiatives that positively impacted the constituency.
According to him, she delivered infrastructural projects and made personal contributions to the development of Akwatia, earning widespread respect and loyalty from constituents.
Mr. Gyekye appealed to the national and regional leadership of the NPP to listen to the voices from the constituency and endorse Ama Sey, citing her experience and strong ties with the electorate.
