Obetsebi-Lamptey Interchange shows our resolve to enhance mobility in Accra – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has hailed the completion of the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange as a milestone in his administration’s efforts to modernise Ghana’s infrastructure and stimulate economic growth.

He described the project as a significant achievement that aligns with his government’s transformative development agenda.

Addressing a gathering at the inauguration ceremony on Friday, November 29, 2024, the President highlighted the interchange’s importance in reducing Accra’s chronic traffic congestion.

He noted that the project would enhance urban mobility, facilitate commerce, and improve the overall quality of life for residents and commuters.  President Akufo-Addo emphasised the interchange’s strategic role in fostering efficient transportation within Accra, one of Ghana’s busiest urban centres.

“This project demonstrates our unwavering resolve to tackle traffic congestion and enhance mobility in Accra. It represents a crucial step in delivering transformative infrastructure that drives economic growth and development for the benefit of all Ghanaians,” he stated.

He reiterated his government’s commitment to initiating and completing projects that address long-standing infrastructural challenges while paving the way for national development.

The President further explained that the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange is part of a broader vision to modernise infrastructure across the country.

He pointed to several ongoing and planned projects aimed at improving transport networks, particularly in urban areas, to support economic activities and development.

President Akufo-Addo urged residents and users of the interchange to maintain and preserve the facility.

He stressed that sustained care and responsible use would ensure the long-term benefits of the investment and contribute to sustainable urban progress.
