NEWS IN: Mauricio Pochettino near sack as Jose Mourinho arrives in London

Chelsea fans expressed their unhappiness with Mauricio Pochettino again during Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Brentford by chanting against the Argentine and club owner Todd Boehly.

The Blues’ away end sharpened the blow by voicing their support of former owner Roman Abramovich and head coach Jose Mourinho as their struggles continued at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Chelsea had won just one of their previous four Premier League games heading into the west London derby, a woeful run that included last weekend’s Carabao Cup final heartbreak against Liverpool.

Pochettino’s side were still licking their wounds as they uninspired against Leeds United at Stamford Bridge midweek, edging the FA Cup tie 3-2.

And they weren’t much better against Brentford as Mads Roerslev and Yoane Wissa cancelled out Nicolas Jackson’s first-half opener to fire the hosts 2-1 ahead with 20 minutes left.

That cued loud cries against Pochettino and the current Chelsea regime from a disgruntled away end, who watched a 2-0 defeat at home to Brentford earlier this season.

“Roman Abramovich and “Boehly, you’re a c**t” led the chants before “f**k off Mauricio” and “Jose Mourinho” followed.

Pochettino is losing the fight to win over the Chelsea fans, who are growing accustomed to mediocrity since Abramovich handed Boehly the keys.

Chelsea are in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a favourable draw at home to Leicester City. However, many felt the Carabao Cup was a must-win, given the team Jurgen Klopp finished the clash with at Wembley.

The Blues are also closer to rock-bottom in the Premier League than they are behind leaders Liverpool, sitting 11th with as many defeats as their 10 wins from 26 games.

Pochettino’s hopes of qualifying for Europe altogether are looking bleaker by the week. That, alongside the growing disrepair of his relationship with supporters, could leave him in an untenable position.
