7 Keys To Having The Perfect After Midnight Jam Alone In Your Room On A Weekday

There’s something about the night. I can’t explain it, but you know what I’m talking about. Everything is just more intense … more thrilling at night. A normal conversation becomes so much more; reading each page of a book feels so electrifying. We hear all the time, how its unhealthy to stay up late. And it is … but if you’re going to be up anyway, here’s how to make your night fun.

Play Some Music

If you’re up late, one of the things that you definitely want to experience is the feeling of listening to a good song in the middle of the night. It’s a whole different experience. Just find something by your favourite singer or band, put earphones in and let your thoughts wander around stuff that you’re not going to remember in the morning.

Do Something That You Love

Sometimes you stay up late and then you get bored. But you end up still not wanting to go to bed. If that’s the case, do something you love. Play some games, read something, text that person that you’re kind of interested in. Just do something that excites you so it doesn’t feel like a waste to be up.

Don’t Get Lazy

Don’t stay in one position for long periods of time. You’re going to fall asleep. And chances are that it won’t be comfortable. You’ll probably doze of with your phone in your hands or just end up in an uncomfortable position. If you’re going to sleep, make sure that its intentional. Otherwise, move around a bit. Even if you’re in bed, try sitting in different positions.

Snacks!

Keep your mouth busy with some snacks. Midnight snacks are not so good for your health … but then again neither is staying up all night. And there’s an argument to be made for lurking in the kitchen finding something edible to snack on.

Plug-In

Get your phone; get on your laptop. You know what? Get both. Put on a movie or that old show that you like and just relax with something entertaining. You could also just leave a movie playing on your laptop while you go see what’s happening on Twitter or have a late conversation with someone.

Shower?

If you’re not going to wake anyone up, a shower is also a good idea. Showers at night can literally make you feel like a new person. They’re refreshing and they instantly relax you.

Maybe Get Some Work Done

Don’t look away. Our final recommendation is actually getting some work done. You can’t sleep. You’re bored. Why not make the most of it and try to be a little productive. You can finish up that article or story that you were writing. If you’re working from home, you can get ahead of your day tomorrow. Just buy yourself some lazy time. And there’s nothing quite as fulfilling as the feeling that comes with staying up all night and getting shit done.
