Police Announce Road Diversions for Final NPP, NDC Rallies in Accra
Ahead of the final rallies of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Accra on Thursday, December 14, the Ghana Police Service has released traffic guidelines and diversion routes to ensure public safety and avoid potential clashes among supporters.
Rally Locations:
- NPP Rally: University of Ghana Stadium, Legon.
- NDC Rally: Zurak Park, Madina.
Diversion Routes:
For NPP Supporters:
- From Adenta: Vehicles will be redirected at Ritz Junction to turn left through Aviation and UPSA, then proceed to Okponglo to access Legon.
- From Dome: Supporters should route through Haatso Junction towards GIMPA and continue to the University of Ghana.
For NDC Supporters:
- From Tetteh Quarshie Interchange: Turn right at Shiashie, head toward UPSA, and then turn left onto the Madina main road.
- From Dome: Turn left at KFC Junction on Haatso Road, proceed toward Wisconsin University, and continue to Zongo Junction.
Traffic Controls and Safety Measures:
- A roadblock will be placed in front of the NDC rally venue in Madina to regulate traffic.
- Officers will be deployed along major routes to assist with traffic flow and ensure both vehicle and pedestrian movement remain smooth.
Appeal for Discipline: The police have urged supporters of both political parties to exhibit discipline and avoid actions that may lead to unrest. Cooperation with law enforcement is crucial to maintaining peace and order during these campaign events.
