The Nigerian movie industry is mourning the death of veteran actress Mama Fred Ezenta.

Details about what led to her passing remain unclear, but reports say she died on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, after battling a serious illness that kept her bedridden.

Actor and filmmaker Emma Chinedum Comedy, known as Mr Aloy, who had worked with her on many projects, announced her death on his TikTok page.

In an emotional post, he shared photos of Mama Fred Ezenta and revealed that she passed away while receiving treatment for her illness in India. He also thanked fans for their prayers during her final days.

He wrote:

“It is very difficult for us to accept, but we can’t question God. After every effort to save our one and only action mama’s life in India, she left us. Thank you so much for your prayers. God knows best.”

Mr Aloy later shared footage from her final movie project and praised her performance.

He wrote:

“It was actually her last movie before she left us. I remember how she insisted on taking this role, and she delivered it beyond every doubt. Goodnight, Mama.”
