President Mahama advised to sack these appointees
Veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jnr has called on President John Dramani Mahama to dismiss all appointees who have begun pursuing presidential ambitions.

In a post on X on Friday, July 18, 2025, Pratt expressed concern that some of Mahama’s appointees appear more focused on positioning themselves as his successor rather than delivering on their current responsibilities.
He argued that such distractions could undermine the president’s agenda and hinder progress on national priorities.
“Is it not possible or likely that such appointees have or will use their current positions to advance their mostly unrealistic ambitions? And if that should happen, how will it affect the implementation of the Mahama/#NDC agenda for 2025 to 2029?” he questioned.
He urged President Mahama to take decisive action.
“Perhaps, it is time for President Mahama to get rid of all his appointees who are obviously not focusing on the task he has assigned them, instead of campaigning to replace him. All the focus ought to be on solving hydra-headed problems of the people of Ghana now and not the leadership dreams of over-ambitious appointees,” Pratt stated.
His comments were in reaction to reports that Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, is eyeing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearership for the 2028 general elections.

The screaming headline on the front page of “The Canary” read “ERIC OPOKU TO CONTEST 2028 NDC FLAGBEARERSHIP SLOT”.It is significant that Eric Opoku (@EricOpokuMP) referred to in the headline is the current Minister of Agriculture appointed by President John… pic.twitter.com/okMjnjXo1q
