Rare unedited eyewitness recounts on the helicopter crash that killed Omane Boamah, 7 others
An eyewitness has shared a harrowing account of the moment a Ghana Air Force helicopter crashed and erupted into flames near Brofoyedru Sikaman, in the Adansi Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

Speaking to JoyNews, the eyewitness said he heard a loud explosion deep within the forest and quickly alerted nearby residents. Together, they attempted to locate the source of the blast. However, thick vegetation and the intensity of the fire made it extremely difficult to access the crash site.
Tragically, all eight people on board the helicopter perished in the incident. Among the deceased are:
Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence
Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology
Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
Samuel Aboagye, former Member of Parliament
Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC
The fallen crew members were identified as:
Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala
Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu
Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah
At a press conference in Accra, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah confirmed the tragic news and announced that all national flags will be flown at half-mast in honour of the victims.
