Referee Daniel Nii Laryea opens up on been influence by Ghana, Naija social media banter

The referee who officiated the match between Nigeria and Morocco, Daniel Nii Laryea, has stated that the banter between Ghana and Nigeria had no influence on his decisions during the game.

He said he officiated the match strictly according to the laws of the game and nothing else.

According to him, he gave his best on the day and the better team emerged victorious.

Speaking to the media on his return to Ghana from Morocco, Daniel Nii Laryea said, “The AFCON is the biggest stage in Africa, and it is the second-ranked tournament in the world after the World Cup and the Euros. This is what we have in Africa, so as a referee, when you are given that stage, it is a big opportunity for you.”

“For me, I just do my refereeing. I don’t listen to what goes on on social media or whatever is going on. We just do the laws of the game,” he added.
