Rev Ntim Fordjour retains Assin South seat; calls for unity

The Member of Parliament for Assin South in the Central Region and Deputy Education Minister, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has retained his seat to serve in 9th Parliament for the third term.

During his official declaration by the Electoral Commission, he called on the people of Assin to unite af­ter the general election, to move Assin South forward.

In the Parliamentary elections, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour of the New Patri­otic Party (NPP), obtained 14,899 votes to beat Mr Stephen Kofi Baidoo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who got 13,354 votes and Mr Joseph Kofi Damtse, an Inde­pendent candidate, who polled 10,332 votes .

Total valid votes cast is 38,585, and the total rejected ballot was 557.

Mr Ebenezer Opoku Boateng, Re­turning Officer for the Electoral Com­mission, declared Rev. Ntim Fordjour as MP-elect for the constituency.

Rev John Ntim Fordjour is one of the four NPP candidates to have won their parliamentary bids in Central Region.
