Sarri believes Maresca can become one of the best coaches in Europe
Former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has claimed Enzo Maresca has the possibility to become one of the best coaches in Europe.
Maresca replaced Mauricio Pochettino in the summer having guided Leicester to the Championship title last season and signed a five year deal at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have taken a huge gamble in appointing the 44-year-old, but so far everything is going well and the Italian has overseen a really good start to the campaign.
Sarri tips Maresca for big future in football
Chelsea are currently fourth in the league and could end the weekend as high as second if results go their way, with Maresca revealing the team are ahead of his expectations.
Maresca has rightfully been receiving praise for the job he’s done so far and Manchester United legend Paul Scholes admitted he was completely wrong about the former Foxes boss.
It’s not just pundits and former players who are praising Maresca, with former Chelsea boss Sarri very complementary about his fellow countryman.
Sarri, who only spent a season at Stamford Bridge and guided Chelsea to the Europa League title with a 4-1 win against Arsenal in Baku in 2019 believes Maresca can become one of the best coaches in Europe.
“Maresca is an Italian coach but is more an international coach. Maresca in Italy worked only for one or two seasons, no more. He has worked more in Italy than in England,” Sarri told The Sun.
“He is a very young coach. We have to wait I think but at the moment the work at Chelsea is going well. He has the possibility to become one of the best in Europe.”
It’s still very early on in the season and we are yet to see how Maresca deals with the Blues going through a difficult run of form, but everything is going in the right direction and the feel good factor is certainly back at Stamford Bridge.
