Stop apolgising to Ghanaians and tell them how good we performed – Gabby Otchere Darko

Gabby Otchere-Darko, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ghana’s biggest opposition party, has boldly advised his party members to stop apologizing too much to Ghanaians, warning that it could make the public lose confidence in them.

Although he held no official position during the Akufo-Addo–Bawumia administration, Gabby, who is a cousin of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, played a key strategic role in shaping the NPP’s communication and messaging, which helped the party secure victories in the 2016 and 2020 elections.

Speaking during a meeting with an NPP branch in the Diaspora, he urged members not to appear overly remorseful when addressing the party’s base or the general public, saying such an approach could weaken their chances of returning to power in 2028.

He emphasized that while members of the previous NPP government and its MPs can admit that mistakes were made during their time in office, they should also remind Ghanaians of their achievements over the past eight years.

Gabby further highlighted that the party should remain humble before the people but should not shy away from showcasing its accomplishments.
