Stop criticising Sophia Akuffo, tagging her as NPP – NDC’s Ako Gunn to party members
Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Ako Gunn, has urged members of his party and the public to respect the views of former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo amid criticism over her recent comments regarding the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

Sophia Akuffo, in an interview with TV3, condemned the process that led to the removal of Justice Torkornoo, arguing that her successor was denied a fair hearing.
“She did not get a fair trial. Even though it was not a trial in the strict sense, it was conducted as though it were a treason case,” the former Chief Justice stated.
Her remarks have since stirred backlash, with some accusing her of siding with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and others questioning whether she acted differently during her own tenure.
Speaking on Peace FM’s morning show Kokrokoo, Ako Gunn appealed to NDC members to avoid attacking Sophia Akuffo simply for expressing her opinion.
“I advise NDC members to stop criticising Madam Sophia Akuffo, tagging her as NPP and saying she is doing the bidding of NPP. As a political party, we respect people’s opinions. This does not make her an NPP person,” he said.
