Stop what you are doing – Ayariga angrily blast Igbo King in Ghana

Tempers flared on live television during the Thursday, July 17, 2025, edition of the Good Evening Ghana program when Hassan Ayariga, Founder and Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), angrily called into the show to lambast the spokesperson of the self-proclaimed Igbo King in Ghana.

His outburst followed growing controversy over King Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu’s alleged acquisition of over 50 acres of land to build an “Igbo Village” in the country.

Ayariga accused the king’s representatives of misleading Ghanaians by denying plans to establish a community—an issue that has sparked widespread public concern and questions over Ghana’s sovereignty.

According to Ayariga, there is video evidence of Ihenetu making claims about purchasing land for a settlement project. He questioned why the king’s spokesperson was now denying those claims.

“I want to tell the journalist sitting down there that he should stop. Tell him that he should stop misleading Ghanaians.

“Even they said that the man did not acquire land. He himself has said he has land,” Ayariga fumed.

He further claimed that Eze Ihenetu had been invited by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) and arrested by National Security operatives—though the king’s team refuted this.

“It was an invitation by NIB, but he was arrested by National Security. He doesn’t even know what he is talking about. Ask him whether he was not detained for 24 hours. Ask him—how can you invite somebody and detain me? What is that kind of invitation? I am sending you a video of him being detained,” he stated.

Ayariga also issued a stern warning to Eze Ihenetu and his associates, urging them to stop behaving as though they were above Ghanaian law.

He cautioned that such conduct could potentially spark tensions between Ghanaians and Nigerians.

“He should be careful of what he is saying so that he can move out of that room alive. He should stop lying and misbehaving. That is not a threat.

“When you come and lie that your chief did not claim to have land when there’s video evidence of him saying he has bought 50 acres of land…

“The Nigerians come and lie anyhow and think they can come and sit down and behave as if the country is for them. What do you mean? You people should be very careful in this country. You cannot sit down and talk as if this country is yours, and I am angry because of the way they are talking. He is not a king in Ghana,” Ayariga warned.
