Tenant collapses and dies during discussion with landlord over rent

Zambia-Mazabuka Central Police have recorded a case of sudden death involving a 23-year-old man from Appolo Compound in Mazabuka.

According to Southern Province Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo, the incident occurred on Wednesday, November 12, around 09:00 hours.

Police identified the deceased as Tionge Zyambo, who collapsed while discussing house rent with his landlord and was later pronounced dead at Mazabuka General Hospital.

Zyambo, who lived with his 25-year-old sister, reportedly collapsed twice before being taken to the hospital.

The brief facts indicate that he had been resting in his bedroom when his sister called him to help negotiate with their landlord, who wanted them to vacate the house. He came out, sat down to speak with the landlord, and suddenly collapsed and began fitting, but later regained consciousness.

After recovering, he tried to continue the discussion with the landlord but collapsed again.

His sister quickly arranged a taxi and rushed him to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
