Independent Parliamentary candidate for Gomoa Central, Kwame Obeng Asare, popularly known as A Plus, believes strongly that the Electoral Commission is doing the right thing.
To him, the Electoral Commission is working very hard to ensure that the country has free, fair, and just elections to ensure peace in the country.
Kwame A Plus, who was speaking on United Showbiz, indicated that every institution has its shortfalls; however, the EC’s quest to introduce new measures must be accepted as the country’s democracy grows.
“We should not be paranoid; we should believe in the EC that everything will be free and fair. I don’t believe that the whole electoral commission will set out to rig the elections,” he said.
He continued, “The process has been fair. Anything they give the political parties if we write to them, they give us. We have been walked through the process as independent candidates, from the printing of ballot papers to the transportation of the papers to the various constituencies”.
To A Plus, this election will be very peaceful because members of the various political parties have been very vocal about things they do not like about the electoral processes to ensure that things are done right.
He indicated that the police are also set to ensure peace, indicating that “Dr Dampare will arrest anyone who goes in contravention with the law. He will not spare anyone so if you think you can use your incumbency to intimidate people, please think twice. Even me who is very close to him, he will not hesitate to get me arrested so you should be very careful on election day so that you don’t get yourself arrested”.
