Two k!lled, several injured in clash over leadership of Taraba Jummat Mosque

At least two people have lost their lives following a violent clash over the leadership of the Central Mosque in Donga, a town in Taraba State.

Reports say several others sustained injuries, while properties were also destroyed during the unrest.

According to Daily Trust, the violence broke out on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, after a disagreement erupted among members of the Muslim community regarding who should serve as the Imam of the Donga Central Mosque.

The mosque, located directly in front of the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Donga Chiefdom, became the center of chaos as the dispute turned violent.

A source in the town said the crisis started as a simple disagreement but quickly escalated into a confrontation between two opposing factions.

Security forces, including soldiers, were later deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent further violence.
