The Vice Presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Roman Fada, has confirmed the passing of the party’s flagbearer, Madam Akua Donkor.

According to Roman Fada, Madam Donkor fell ill on Saturday and was initially treated at the Nsawam Government Hospital, where she was discharged after receiving care. However, her condition worsened, and on Sunday, she was rushed to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (formerly Ridge Hospital), where she sadly passed away at 10 p.m. on Monday. Madam Akua Donkor was 83.

The Ghana Freedom Party is expected to release an official statement soon to announce her death and outline their next steps.

Speaking to Accra-based Onua TV, Roman Fada expressed his condolences and urged all political parties to prioritize peace in the upcoming 2024 elections.

“Let’s use the passing of our mother to remind ourselves that we are one people. We should vote peacefully and ensure our country remains united,” he stated.
