Update on laundry attendant allegedly claimed there is military plot to kill President Mahama
The Adenta Circuit Court has remanded a laundry attendant into police custody for allegedly publishing false news intended to cause fear and panic.

The accused, Ahmed Hassan Abdul Razzaq, 30, is accused of posting a video on his TikTok account, @breakingnewsghana, claiming that two military officers were planning to assassinate President John Dramani Mahama.
The court did not take Razzaq’s plea and ordered him to remain in custody until his next court appearance on February 9, 2026.
The prosecution is being handled by Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo.
According to the case facts, the complainant is the Ghana Police Service.
On January 20, 2026, Razzaq allegedly published a video in which he mentioned Sergeant Amoh and Sergeant Joseph as the officers involved in the alleged plot.
He was arrested the next day at Adjiringanor in the Greater Accra Region.
In his caution statement, Razzaq admitted making the video but said he had never met the officers and did not know them personally.
He said he had “chanced upon a post on social media” that made the assassination claim, which led him to publish the video.
