Veteran actor dead

Veteran Nigerian actor John Onyechiyanyere Amaefule, popularly known as Pinijay, has reportedly died at the age of 79 after a prolonged battle with a stroke.

The actor’s family announced his death in an obituary post on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Although the exact date of his passing has not been disclosed, reports suggest he died several weeks ago.

John Amaefule reportedly passed away while receiving medical treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Owerri.
