New youth national teams will help transition players into Black Stars – Desmond Ofei

Black Satellites head coach, Desmond Ofei, has revealed that the new youth national teams created by the Ghana Football Association will help transition players into the senior national team, the Black Stars.

A week ago, the GFA’s Executive Council has decided to form four new developmental national teams for boys and five for girls.

As a result, there will be U-16, U-18, U-19 and U-21 for Boys and U-16, U-18, U-19, U-21 & U-23 for Girls.

Speaking after their 2023 African Games final triumph over Uganda last Thursday, Desmond Ofei explained how the new national team will the new national teams will aid young players reach the Black Stars.

“I don’t know if you’ve read, but the FA has four new youth national teams,” the GFA head of coaching education said.

“From U20 you go to U21, then 23 and then the Black Stars. Once they are ready, we push and give them the opportunity in the Black Stars.”
