Watch heartwarming moment Dormaahene defended Asantehene

The Dormaahene and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II, has cautioned people attacking the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, after the submission of the Bawku mediation report to the Presidency.

According to the Dormaahene, some individuals have begun insulting the Asantehene following the presentation of the mediation report.

He said Otumfuo’s role in the process has been demanding and deserves praise rather than criticism.

Speaking on the issue, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II explained that the Asantehene was first appointed by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to mediate the long-standing Bawku conflict and was later asked by President John Dramani Mahama to continue the assignment.

“When former President Akufo-Addo was in office, he assigned Otumfuo to mediate the Bawku conflict. When President Mahama assumed office, he also tasked him to continue the same process. After his work, I have seen people criticising and speaking against him.

“The work was very difficult to handle, so those criticising and insulting him should desist from such acts. Some of those insulting him are chiefs, while others are Members of Parliament. These actions must stop,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has submitted his final report and recommendations on the Bawku mediation process to President John Dramani Mahama.

While presenting the report, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who chaired the Special Peace Committee set up to find a lasting solution to the Bawku chieftaincy dispute, called on the government to strictly enforce existing laws recognising Zugraan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II as the legitimate Bawku Naba and paramount chief of the Kusasi Traditional Area.

The directive forms the committee’s final advice to President Mahama on the prolonged conflict between the Mamprusi and Kusasi groups, which has claimed many lives and slowed development in Bawku and surrounding communities.

Otumfuo stressed that the committee’s recommendations were based solely on Ghana’s constitutional provisions and the Supreme Court’s rulings, and not on negotiations or customary arrangements.

The report reaffirmed the legal position established under the Restoration of Status of Chiefs Law, 1983 (PNDCL 75), which was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2003.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II further stated that all traditional authorities are bound by the rule of law and appealed to Naa Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, the Nayiri and overlord of Mamprugu, to respect the legal position, especially in light of recent efforts to endorse another claimant to the Bawku skin…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
