A recent video circulating on social media has triggered public calls for an urgent police investigation after it showed a uniformed officer in a concerning and controversial situation.
The video, first posted by Instagram user sikaofficial1 on July 2, 2025, appears to capture a Ghana Police Service officer who seems to be under the influence of alcohol, while being mocked and harassed by a group of young men. The footage quickly went viral, sparking outrage and worry across the country.
In the post, sikaofficial1 stated, “Netizens have called for an immediate police investigation into a video of an alleged uniformed officer of the Ghana Police Service, seemingly intoxicated and being harassed by a group of youths.”
The video has raised serious concerns about professionalism and discipline within the police service, with many Ghanaians expressing shock and disappointment. While some have criticised the officer for allegedly engaging in misconduct while in uniform, others have condemned the behaviour of the youths in the video, saying their actions disrespected law enforcement and contributed to the breakdown of order.
Many online users are demanding accountability on both sides. On one hand, there are calls for the Ghana Police Service to verify the officer’s identity and determine whether he was indeed drunk and in uniform during the incident. On the other hand, there’s a strong push for the young men seen mocking and filming the officer to be questioned, as their actions could be classified as harassment or obstruction of a public officer.
