We know your track record, you have nothing new to offer – Akufo-Addo dismisses Mahama’s presidential bid

President of the Republic, Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has urged Ghanaians to reject the former President, John Dramani Mahama, who is the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He has asked Ghanaians to give their votes to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket comprising Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

His comment is in light of the fact that John Mahama has nothing new to offer Ghanaians, the reason he is the only President who was not given the opportunity to serve a second term in the Fourth Republic.

Speaking at the unveiling of the NPP running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh Tuesday, July 09, 2024, at the Kumasi Jubilee park, the President narrated how all former Presidents Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor and himself, all had the opportunity to serve two terms, but John Mahama.

According to President Akufo-Addo, John Mahama, having been rejected by Ghanaians for his second term, will never be considered again “either today or tomorrow.”

“Since the 4th republic, Jerry John Rawlings was allowed to serve for his second term, John Agyekum Kufuor was also allowed to serve for two terms, and me, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has also been allowed to serve for two terms.

“However, he [Mahama] was rejected for his second term and he’s now asking for a second chance. We won’t consider him for the presidency, either today or tomorrow.”

“He talks as if we don’t know his track record. He has nothing new to offer. We know his track record and he has nothing new for Ghanaians.
