We need a party chairman like Asiedu Nketia – NPP’s Joe Wise

In a frank assessment of his party, Joseph Osei Owusu, Chairman of the New Patriotic Party Presidential Elections Committee—also known as Joe Wise—has called for a major shift in leadership style similar to that of their political rivals.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen show on Friday, January 23, 2026, the veteran legislator and former First Deputy Speaker warned that the NPP is suffering from a lack of discipline, which is pushing loyal members toward the opposition National Democratic Congress.

Mr. Osei Owusu did not hesitate to point to the opposition as a model for order.

He said the NPP needs a National Chairman with the firm and consistent leadership style of the NDC’s Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as General Mosquito, to address internal disunity.

“What I have seen myself is Asiedu Nketiah. He is the one who has made the [NDC] party attractive. He doesn’t have to say it, but then it’s visible. If you are there and you want to misbehave, he will deal with you,” Joe Wise stated.
