When NPP comes to power, you’ll see – Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah warns Basintale
Media personality Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah has issued a strong warning to the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, Malik Basintale, advising him not to let political power cloud his judgment and urging him to act more responsibly.

Basintale has built a reputation for rallying large groups of party youth—often riding motorbikes—to campaign for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He’s known to describe these supporters as his “army of youth,” who he directs across the country to undertake various party activities.
Just ahead of the parliamentary rerun in the Ablekuma North constituency on July 11, 2025, Basintale led hundreds of these youth in a motorcade through the area.
However, critics and political watchers say the power he’s accumulated may be going to his head, citing some of his recent comments and actions as questionable.
During his “For the Records” show, Afrifa-Mensah reflected on his personal history with Basintale, saying he’s known him since his early days in politics.
“You are a young man. I saw you when you were coming up,” Afrifa-Mensah recounted. “Whenever I finished a radio show, I used to go with you to buy food, and we would sit down and eat. You are blessed to have the grassroots of your party listening to you.”
While recognizing Basintale’s growing role within the NDC, Afrifa-Mensah didn’t hold back in criticizing his recent behavior.
“You are a young man, and you must stop fooling,” he warned. “Otherwise, power will change hands, and you will be so sorry. When you have political power, you behave as if the whole world belongs to you.”
