Withdraw from Akwatia by-election – NDC told
The National Democratic Party (NDP) has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to step aside in the upcoming Akwatia parliamentary by-election.

In a letter dated August 18, 2025, and signed by NDP founder Owusu-Cobbiah Richard, the party argued that its chances of victory would improve if the contest were only between the NDP and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“We respectfully request that you consider withdrawing your parliamentary candidate for the Akwatia by-election. A direct contest between NDP and NPP could enhance our chances of winning,” the letter stated.
