Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has effectively ruled itself out of winning the 2028 general elections by recycling presidential hopefuls whose records are tied to the failures of the Akufo-Addo administration.

Speaking on The Key Point on Saturday, January 3, Mr Kpebu said the calibre and background of aspirants seeking the NPP’s flagbearer position show that the party has not reflected on the reasons behind its heavy defeat in the 2024 elections.
He said any attempt by the NPP to present Dr. Bawumia as a new candidate would be rejected by voters who associate him with the economic decline, debt restructuring, and fiscal stress under the previous government.
Mr Kpebu was also critical of other leading aspirants, including Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, whose temperament he said disqualifies him from serious presidential consideration.
