You ran Ghana like a Ponzi scheme – Ablakwa tear Akufo-Add apart
Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has delivered a strong critique of the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, accusing it of poor economic management and comparing its approach to a Ponzi scheme.

Speaking to journalists in Parliament after the presentation of the Mid-Year Budget on Thursday, July 2025, the North Tongu Member of Parliament criticised the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government for neglecting the well-being of Ghanaians during its tenure.
“We saw over the last eight years, under the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration, that they preferred to run this economy like a Ponzi scheme,” Ablakwa said.
“They only took the resources of this country to engage in creating a loot and share in all kinds of dubious and notorious expenditures that did not improve the welfare of the people. That is why they were punished at the polls. We have learnt from that.”
Ablakwa also expressed optimism that the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, under President John Mahama’s leadership, would restore sound economic governance and deliver improved outcomes for citizens.
