Young Ghanaian TikToker boyfriend arrested for killing her
Sylvester Sowah, the boyfriend of the late TikToker Charlotte Obeng, known online as Biggest Abena, has reportedly been arrested by police officers in Obuasi.
Sowah, 27, who is the prime suspect in her alleged murder, had been on the run following the TikToker’s death on November 20, 2025.
Reports indicate that she died after an alleged attack by her boyfriend, also called Nana Yaw, at their home in Abompe New Site in the Ashanti Region.
Ghanaian journalist Chukwu Joseph, who visited the area, said the couple had a troubled relationship and often argued because of Sowah’s alleged dependence on illicit substances.
According to him, on the day she died, Biggest Abena argued with her boyfriend again and warned she would end the relationship if he refused to stop his habit.
She had reportedly complained that her health was worsening because of his behaviour, but he allegedly ignored her concerns and rather asked her for money to buy more substances.
After the argument, the TikToker was found dead in a chair at their home. Residents told the journalist they heard gunshots around the time of the incident.
On November 24, 2025, reports emerged that Sowah had been arrested by police in Obuasi. In a TikTok video seen by DailyNewsGhana, a family member of the deceased shared details of the arrest during an interview with a blogger.
It’s true, he has been arrested. This morning, we heard it on the radio that he had been arrested. So I called the police CID, and they informed me that he had truly been arrested.
“He was picked up around 2 a.m. on Monday. We quickly went to the police station and met two of his brothers, who told us that they lured him out and then helped the police to arrest him,” he said.
