2025 BECE results to be out by end of July – WAEC

The 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) ended on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, with the final paper in Arabic. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has projected that the results will be released by the end of July 2025.

This was disclosed during an interview with Citi Eyewitness News on Tuesday, June 17. Mr. John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, stated that the marking process would begin immediately after the exams. He assured all stakeholders that WAEC would meet its timeline.

“We are now going to sort out and do our marking, but certainly by the end of July the results should certainly be out,” Mr. Kapi said.

He praised WAEC’s efforts in organising the exams smoothly across the country. According to him, all necessary materials, including question papers and stationery, were successfully delivered to candidates.

“I will say that on our part, we will pat ourselves on the back and say that we did a good job,” he said. “Usually after examinations, what you expect as an examining body is that every candidate is provided the opportunity to write—in terms of questions, in terms of stationery. All of these things went to the candidates.”

Mr. Kapi acknowledged that there were minor logistical issues, such as a vehicle breakdown and delays due to poor road conditions. However, he confirmed that these challenges were resolved quickly.

“There was one incident where the vehicle broke down while delivering the questions, and for some, I am told the distance and the nature of the road caused a delay on one of the days. But on subsequent days, they provided an extra vehicle, and they were able to make it in good time,” he added.

WAEC’s plan to release the results on time will enable the Ghana Education Service (GES) to begin placing students into senior high schools without delay. This ensures a smooth academic transition for candidates.

Once the 2025 BECE results are out, candidates will need to purchase a valid result checker card to access their results through the WAEC online portal.
