Joseph Nelson – Western Regional Minister

A native of the Western Region, Joseph Nelson is a tech entrepreneur, former Municipal Executive, and academic. With a BSc in Biochemistry from KNUST and a master’s in Democracy, Governance, Law, and Development from UCC, he is known for championing investment and infrastructure reforms. He assumed office on February 11, 2025, under President Mahama.

A chartered accountant and seasoned local government expert, Wilbert Brentum is also the NDC’s Regional Treasurer. His priorities include combating illegal mining and addressing cocoa production decline. He assumed office on February 11, 2025, with a clear focus on transparency and environmental regulation.

James Gunu is a respected development communicator and former DCE for Akatsi North. With a Master’s in Development Communication and Local Government Administration, he is celebrated for his grassroots leadership. Appointed in January 2025, his focus includes jobs, education, and infrastructure.

Three-term MP for Shai-Osudoku and award-winning public servant, Hon. Ocloo holds degrees in Banking, Law, and Finance. Her leadership emphasizes women’s empowerment and community healthcare. She is also a trained insurance and banking professional.

A lawyer and academic with 21+ years of experience, Puozuing is the founding partner of Puozuing & Associates and lectures law at UBIDS. He holds an LLM from the University of Ghana and is the NDC’s Upper West Regional Secretary. His priorities include health infrastructure and legal empowerment.

Lawyer, valuation expert, and founder of SPREAD Ghana, Salisu is a former DCE of Central Gonja. He holds law and land economy degrees from KNUST and is focused on regulating mining, land use planning, and local economic development.

A public health finance expert and former NHIA manager, Tia has an ICT degree and an MBA in Project Management. He served as NDC Regional Secretary and aims to combat poverty, gender inequality, and sanitation issues in one of Ghana’s youngest regions.

An educationist and long-serving GES administrator, Ali Adolf is also the NDC Northern Regional Chairman. He holds a Bachelor of Education and a Master’s in Technology from UEW. His tenure focuses on education, peacebuilding, and rural development.

A medical doctor and youth advocate, Amoakohene holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and a Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science. He served as NDC’s Ashanti Regional Secretary and is one of Ghana’s youngest regional ministers. His leadership promotes youth employment and healthcare reform.

A gender activist and President of AWF-Gh, Rita is the first female regional minister from Krobo land. Formerly Deputy Regional Women’s Organizer and NALAG representative, she’s focused on road infrastructure, women’s economic inclusion, and public security.

A two-term former MP and educationist, Hon. Okyere holds an MBA and LLB from UCC. As the Executive Director of the Centre for Artisan and Apprentice Development, he champions waste management (“borlatherapy”), skills training, and public health.

A banking and microfinance specialist with over 20 years of experience, Antwi holds an MBA in Strategic Management and a Post-Chartered Diploma in Treasury & Risk. A native of Atebubu, he prioritizes economic inclusion, agriculture, and chieftaincy collaboration.

Lawyer and regional administrator, Akwaboa is pursuing a PhD in Law at KNUST. Formerly with Asempa Chambers, he focuses on justice reform, public service digitization, and youth mentorship. He is a native of Wamfie and resides in Sunyani.

Veteran MP and former Volta Regional Chairman of the NDC, Gyampong now leads Oti Region after decades of service. A UCC-trained educator and farmer, his work emphasizes peacebuilding, infrastructure, and political stability in the new region.

A three-time Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku, Linda Ocloo is a seasoned legislator and financial professional. With degrees in Banking and Finance, Insurance, and Law, she brings policy expertise to her role. As the Greater Accra Regional Minister, her focus is on women’s empowerment, urban planning, and health access.
