A/R: Collapsing school injures 7 pupils at Kyekyemso (VIDEO)

A crumbling school building in Kyekyemso, in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, has collapsed on seven pupils, leaving two in critical condition.

The tragic event has sparked renewed public concern over the poor state of rural education infrastructure in Ghana.

Teachers and residents say they had already started building a new classroom block through communal labour, but work stalled due to a lack of funding and continued government neglect.

The collapse happened during school hours, causing panic among students and triggering an emergency response from the community.

Educators are now calling on former President John Dramani Mahama to step in and help complete the new structure.

They believe his support could speed up the project and protect students from future danger.

The incident underscores the urgent need for investment in safe and decent learning environments in neglected communities.
