A/R: Man, 26, fined for allegedly sleeping with pregnant sheep
A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly having sexual relations with two pregnant sheep.
The incident took place in Anwiaso, a community in the Ashanti Region.
According to a report by Malik Anokye on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, monitored by DailyNewsGhana, residents had grown suspicious after noticing the man frequently visiting the sheepfold in the evenings.
At first, they did not know what he was up to, but their concerns were confirmed when he was eventually caught in the act.
Following the incident, he was accused of being responsible for impregnating the animals.
He was taken to the palace of the local chief, where he was fined and punished.
Traditional leaders carried out purification rituals to cleanse the community, saying the man’s actions had brought misfortune.
As part of the rites, animals were slaughtered, and their blood was used to perform the ceremony.
In addition, he was made to pay for the sheep he allegedly violated. The animals were then killed and buried.
Before being taken to the palace, the suspect was beaten by those who caught him, suffering injuries that left him bleeding.
Malik Anokye reported that the sheep were killed and buried because the chief and his elders believed keeping them alive would bring bad luck to the entire community.
