A/R: Man found dead in Susan River in Oforikrom after downpour
The lifeless body of a man believed to be in his 40s was discovered in the Susan River at Oforikrom in the Ashanti Region following a heavy downpour on Tuesday evening.
Residents found the body on Wednesday morning, after reports that the man had been swept away by floodwaters the previous night.
The body, which was partially submerged and floating in the river, was spotted by locals near Kings Down, a suburb in the Oforikrom Municipality.
Eyewitnesses say the unidentified man was seen heavily intoxicated in the area before the rainstorm. Many believe he may have fallen into the river during the flooding and drowned.
Officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) retrieved the body from the river and transported it to the morgue.
Authorities say an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
