Ablekuma North Results: You will know no peace – Annoh-Dompreh tells IGP

The Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has strongly warned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), stating that the police boss “will not know peace” until the Electoral Commission (EC) announces the results of the Ablekuma North parliamentary elections.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by 1957 News, Annoh-Dompreh expressed deep frustration over what he described as an unusual and worrying six-month delay in the declaration of the election results.

“We find it a bit strange. It has never happened in our political discourse. We resorted to a civil approach by presenting a petition to the IGP. We will give him reasonable time, and we are hoping he will act,” he said.

He clarified that the NPP is not demanding the results be declared in their favour, but simply based on the available figures.

“We are not saying that they should declare the thing in our favour. They should declare it based on the figures that are available,” he stressed.

According to him, the delay is an attack on Ghana’s democracy and a disrespect to the constitutional rights of the people of Ablekuma North.

Annoh-Dompreh contrasted the situation with that of the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, where the NPP accepted a loss without protest. He accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of refusing to accept defeat in the current case.

“When it went in their favour, they were happy and applauding. Now, when it goes against you, you won’t agree,” he added.

The Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP also issued a personal warning to the IGP, saying if nothing is done within a “reasonable time,” there would be consequences—though he did not explain what actions would follow.

“He will never know peace, and he will never be happy. That one, I assure you,” he warned.

This comes after the Minority Caucus in Parliament, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, marched from Parliament to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters.

The protest was aimed at demanding the EC be given full security support to complete the collation and declaration of the results for the Ablekuma North constituency.

A formal petition was presented to the IGP, asking him to ensure that Electoral Commission officials can safely do their work without interference or fear.
