Actress Rose opens up on snatching people’s husband

Popular Nollywood actress, Rose Odika, has spoken out about the negative stereotypes faced by women in the film industry.

She made the revelation during an interview on Talk To B Podcast, hosted by actress Biola Adebayo, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

According to Odika, actresses are often wrongly judged and labeled, with many people assuming they live controversial lifestyles.

She described the bias as unfair and damaging, stressing that it affects the personal and professional lives of women in Nollywood.

Sharing her own experience, the actress narrated how she was once embarrassed at a social event because of such stereotypes. She explained that during a party, a woman distributing souvenirs deliberately skipped her turn.

“I went to a party one day and this woman was sharing a souvenir. She got to me. She jumped my side and she continued sharing. My PA went and said, ‘Mummy, you’ve not given her.’ She said, ‘No, these actresses that snatch people’s husband,’” Odika recalled.

She said she was taken aback by the remark but decided to confront the woman immediately. According to her, silence would only encourage such unfair assumptions about women in the industry.

“Please, madam, come. What do you mean actresses that snatch people’s husband? I have never snatched anybody’s husband and all of us are not the same,” she recounted telling the woman. She added that it was important to stand up for her integrity and correct the wrong impression.

Odika stressed that not every actress should be judged by the negative actions of a few. “You can’t just come and have that notion that because some people are somehow then that means everybody is like that. Madam, please, I have never snatched anybody’s husband,” she insisted.

The veteran actress lamented that the general public often paints Nollywood women with one brush, overlooking their individual character and values. She warned that this habit of generalization has created lasting stigma for hardworking professionals in the industry.

“So, some people have this notion that most actresses have a kind of lifestyle,” she explained. Odika said the perception is not only unfair but also discouraging for women who genuinely work hard to build careers in entertainment.

She concluded by urging Nigerians to do away with negative stereotypes and focus on judging people based on their personal conduct rather than their profession.

According to her, women in Nollywood deserve respect and should not be ridiculed because of assumptions that are not true for everyone…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
