After Ken Ofori-Atta OSP to press criminal charges against top officials of NPA
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced that it will soon press criminal charges against some top officials of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) over a corruption case involving more than GH¢280 million.
At a press briefing on Monday, June 2, 2025, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng revealed that his office’s investigations uncovered a grand scheme that ran between 2022 and 2024. He said some NPA officials took advantage of their positions to make money for themselves.

“These officials used threats, force, bribery, and their regulatory powers to collect huge sums of money from oil marketing companies,” Mr Agyebeng said.
According to him, the stolen money—over GH¢280.5 million—was used to buy properties, trucks for transporting fuel, and even to set up their own fuel companies to compete with the same people they were supposed to regulate.
Although the names of those involved were not mentioned at the briefing, the OSP had earlier confirmed that its investigations, which started in November 2024, were focused on former NPA boss Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid and three others.
Mr Agyebeng added that charges will start being filed against the first batch of suspects and some oil companies that were involved before the end of June. He promised that the full details will be shared with the public afterward.
“We will let everyone know the full story—who did what, who bought what, and how much we’ve been able to recover,” the Special Prosecutor assured.
