Armed robbers shoot farmer dead at Maame Ama village

A farmer, Emmanuel Kwadwo Obeng, was shot and killed by armed robbers at Maame Ama near Nsokote in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti Region around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

According to reports, Mr. Obeng was responding to news of a robbery in a nearby village when he encountered the armed robbers, who shot him in the chest, killing him instantly.

Residents have expressed deep concern over the increasing spate of robberies in the area and are calling on the police to intensify security.

The deceased’s wife, Akua Baduwuaa, said she is devastated by the loss and unsure how she will care for their eight children — seven boys and one girl.

Police have confirmed the incident and say investigations are ongoing.
